A few days ago, ABB has owned a huge order with a value of over $300 million, which means they will participate in the construction of a project about two new Medium voltage cable direct current transmission lines. Two 800Kv transmission lines From Shanxi Province to Nanning Province can transmit 8000MW of wind energy, and the other line is from Jiuquan to Hunan province which can transmit 8000MW of thermal energy. According to the average national consumption, such energy can meet the needs of 26 million users.
ABB will supply Medium voltage cable direct current converter, converter transformers and components, capacitor and filters, and Medium voltage cable circuit breaker, such supplying will promise reliable long-distance transmission.
In recent years, China has been focusing on the development of UHV DC transmission lines to boost capacity and improve power efficiency. This will allow the more electricity produced in the west of China tranmissed to the eastern region, with the long distance and lower losses.
60 years ago, ABB has become a leader in the field of Medium voltage cable direct current technology. Over the past 20 years, the company has made considerable progress in this profession. At present, ABB has obtained 100 HVDC projects in world, with a total installed capacity of over 1200MW.
