Recently, the George solar airport in western cape in South Africa was officially opening .This is the first in Africa,also the world's second airport whichreally work rely on solar power.
It is known that since the photovoltaic power generation project started in last March by George airport, South Africa department of transportation has invested 16 million rand to upgrad the power generation facilities, so far, the initial capacity has reached to 750 mw, able to meet the part of electricity needs of the airport.
Transport minister of South Africa-Peters said , the South African government attaches great importance to the development of new energy, they clearly put forward a target of new energy generating capacity by 2030 42% of the total electricity.As a new energy power generation demonstration project, George solar airport’s official opening will greatly promote the development of new energy industry in South Africa.
