A special taskforce of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) yesterday fined RFL Construction Ltd, a concern of Pran RFL Group, about Tk 37 lakh for cutting the underground power cable on July 13.
According to DPDC, while working on a project of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority near Madartek Substation, workers of RFL construction cut underground cable which disrupted power connection to Madartek, Basabo and Banasree area for more than an hour.
DPDC had to transmit power through alternative means, said a press release.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, chief of DPDC's special taskforce, said the construction companies should adopt cautious measures while leading underground development works.
“It was an accident,” said AKM Zafarullah, executive director of RFL construction, adding, “We've given Tk 36.77 lakh to DPDC to repair the connection.”
