Chinese mechanical engineering companies and Ukraine's largest private energy holding company are reportedly officially building solar power plants in Ukraine.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the project.
At the ceremony, President DTEK said the project was a milestone event for Ukraine's energy sector.
It will be the largest solar power station in Ukraine and Europe.
During the ceremony, the facility installed its first Solar panel, which was developed by Chinese company Seraphim Solar System and shipped to Ukraine.
Together, Seraphim solar systems and 750,000 solar panels made by another Chinese company, trina solar energy, will be built on 400 hectares of solar farms.
In addition, the plant will include 80 inverter stations and 160 photovoltaic inverters, produced by China's shenzhen kosta technology co.
Preliminary estimates put the estimated cost of solar power stations at 230 million euros ($265 million).
The project is funded by DTEK's own funds and CMEC loans.
The project is scheduled to be completed early next year.
