The British Union Electric Co recently announced that the largest floating solar power plant in Europe would officially start construction in the Godley reservoir in the UK.
According to reports, the floating solar power station needs to install 12000 sets of solar cells, covering an area of about 45000 square meters, the total area of the reservoir is about 60000 square meters.
Once completed, it will provide 2.7 GWh of electricity per year for the UK.
Last year, the UK's first floating solar power plant construction started in the Burke County Reservoir, 800 sets of the solar battery were installed.
Project developer Union Electric Co said we plan to achieve the 35% of the total demand for electricity in 2020. This floating solar power plant is an important step to achieve this goal."
The floating type solar power station has become the second largest floating solar station in the world, the first largest one is Japan Hyogo Sakasamaike floating power station.
However, the Japanese Kyocera Corp also plans to build a new floating solar power station that covers an area of 180000 square meters in March 2016.
As expected, this floating solar power plant will be built and put into operation at the end of this year.
