First, strengthen the core selection
Because it is a long-distance, large span of the overhead cable, we must first think of the cable to have greater tensile strength, in normal conductors, we will use it as a reinforcing core strand, but in recent years, as a reinforcing strand core drawbacks become increasingly prominent, such as heavy weight, corrosion resistance poor shortcomings; detected by the study, in the end, we chose carbon fiber as a reinforcing rod core, this carbon fiber mandrel has the following advantages:
1. High strength. Under the same cross-section, the carbon fiber mandrel is twice the strength of the steel core, and the quality is 1/3 times the steel core.
2. Corrosion. Carbon fiber mandrel as an insulating material, and the aluminum conductor without any reaction, when energized to avoid electrochemical corrosion of aluminum and its problems.
3. Low cost. Because of relatively high intensity, laying the span can be increased, reducing the number of towers, laying of improving efficiency, the total cost of the tower, annex costs will be reduced.
However, the carbon fiber mandrel also has its shortcomings, the most notable is its relatively low radial compressive strength, in the ordinary twisted round aluminum, when pressed after the carbon fiber mandrel it is likely to cause radial "crack" and eventually affect its strength.
