LS Cable & System Asia, a subsidiary of LS Cable, a South Korean-based cable manufacturer, said recently that it
had increased its production capacity in Vietnam by 3.7 times due to its efforts to expand its market share in
Southeast Asia.
The Korean company said it had invested 10 billion won ($8.8 million) in its local subsidiary LS-VINA, which now
produces 100,000 tons of cable material a year, up from 27,000 tons in the past.
That's about half of the 200,000 tons of cable material needed by Southeast Asian countries every year, enough to
make 60,000 kilometers of cable that can circle the earth 1.5 times.
LS cable said that increasing capacity would make it better able to meet the country's own needs. It also allows
companies to export surplus cable materials to other Southeast Asian countries.
"With the completion of the investment, the company expects to accelerate growth in the future," said Kwon
Young-il, Asia CEO of LS C&S. pointed out that the company had completed the expansion of production of
optical fibers and medium voltage cables last year, which will contribute to stable expansion in the future.
