According to Islamabad, sources said, the Pakistani Government is to re-examine CASA-1000 high-voltage transmission projects and look for alternative energy resources, mainly because Afghanistan's civil war continued as well as deteriorating Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral relations.
According to people familiar with the matter said, the Pakistan Ministry is re-examining the May 2016 launch of CASA-1000 for the construction of a high voltage transmission project.
The project was scheduled from the Central Asian States of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan imported electricity through Afghanistan.
CASA-1000 path design of high-voltage transmission projects is critical, including a 477-kilometer high voltage direct current transmission line, connecting Kyrgyzstan and northern Tajikistan, as well as a 750-kilometer high-voltage transmission line, connecting southern Tajikistan to Pakistan Peshawar through Afghanistan's capital of Kabul.
The transmission lines in Tajikistan long 117-kilometer, in Afghanistan territory long 562-kilometer, and finally 71-kilometer in Pakistan.
However, the Afghanistan Taliban Afghanistan put pressure on the construction of transmission lines in the North.
In addition, another major energy project, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project TAPI also means Afghanistan Kandahar – the Heart of Western Highway, is currently under consideration.
Energy experts believe that no matter what kind of energy as long as it takes Afghanistan is unsafe.
As Afghanistan continued civil war and weakening of bilateral relations, energy experts suggested that the future does not consider Afghanistan's energy cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry started again Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project and hoped that Iran imported electricity.
Reportedly, Pakistan was the United States on the TAPI pipeline project and CASA-1000 pressure on the high-voltage transmission projects, and moved to Iran seeking energy cooperation.
