Recently, Prysmian has successfully completed ahead of the Viking offshore wind farm cable laying work. Terminal and testing are currently underway.
"This milestone project underscores the Group's ability to manage cable contracts in the general contract, and once again confirms Prysmian's position in the offshore wind market," said Massimo Battaini, senior vice president of Prysmian Energy. "We have been investing heavily in project implementation and cable installation capabilities, and now we can rely on new assets such as cable barges Ulisse for shallow water installations and new jet cable protection machines."
Germany's Ibrahim Roland Sea Company awarded Prysmian this contract worth € 60 million in 2015 to supply and install an internal array cable for the Viking offshore wind farm. Prysmian is responsible for the design, manufacture, installation, installation and testing of 80 km 33 kV submarine cable to connect 70 wind turbines and offshore substations. The 2016 cable began manufacturing at the De La Gate factory in Norway.
As a market leader, Prysmian is increasingly involved in offshore wind power interconnection, such as an internal array cable supply contract in 2016 for the Lantel offshore wind farm. Prysmian also supplies high-voltage AC cable systems for different offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
