According to Keir Preedy, CEO of Solomon Cable Company, the country's submarine cable system vessels are scheduled to travel to the Pacific Ocean this weekend.
He said that the completed submarine cable system, Coral Cable System (CS2) and Solomon Islands Domestic Network System (SIDN) are currently being loaded on Alcatel's Ile de Batz cable ship in Calais, France.
The vessel will first leave for Port Moresby on 6 June and arrive in Honiara on 20 June to complete this phase of laying.
Mr Preedy said that the last splicing of the cable system should be completed on August 10, after which the ship would return to Honiara and begin laying SIDN at the end of August.
