Tanzania and Ethiopia recently reached a preliminary 400-megawatt power import agreement, namely Tanzania from Ethiopia imports 400 megawatts of hydropower. Since then, Tanzania has also become the fourth import electricity from Ethiopia African countries.
Ethiopia's national power company CEO Azeb Asnake EEP in an interview with state news agency interview that electricity trade will contribute to regional economic development.
It is reported that Tanzania Ethiopia imported electricity must pathway Kenya, which will work together to promote regional economic development.
Currently, Ethiopia is spending billions of dollars to build multiple hydropower projects, including the famous Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam GERD, which is currently Africa's largest hydroelectric project, the installed capacity of 8,000 MW.
Ethiopian government plans to export electricity hydroelectric project called the East African country, in order to achieve the goal in 2025 called middle-income countries.
Currently, the country has imported electricity from Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Djibouti.
