Steel Wire Armoured cable designed specifically for outdoor use is not only tough and hardy, but it’s also versatile. 

It’s extremely difficult to work with because of the size and inflexibility of this cable. When terminating an SWA, extra care needs to be taken, and there are a few very important points to remember.

Smaller sizes of SWA power cable can be done with a pair of bolt croppers, but for the larger sizes, a saw or a hydraulic-assisted cutter will be necessary. 

Make sure you have all of the tools you’ll need to hand, in advance.

When cutting Steel Wire Armoured cable, you’ll need to strip it down in layers, while keeping specific layers at various points. 

Once you’ve completed this, make sure the inner wires are free from the covering, inner bedding, and armor covering.
