Caused by fiber attenuation the main factors are: intrinsic, bending, extrusion, impurities, uneven docking, etc.
Intrinsic: is the inherent fiber loss, including Rayleigh scattering, intrinsic absorption, etc.
Bending: light in optical fiber bending part of the optical fiber may be lost due to scattering, causing wear and tear.
Squeeze: optical fiber squeeze produced in small bending caused by the loss.
Impurities: fiber impurity in light absorption and scattering in optical fiber transmission, caused by the loss.
Uneven: the loss caused by the uneven refractive index of fiber materials.
Docking: optical fiber loss when the docking, such as: not coaxial (single-mode fiber coaxial degree requirements is less than 0.8 microns), end face and the axis is not perpendicular, end face, butt weld size does not match and poor quality.
When light from one end of the optical fiber into, the other side, the light intensity will weaken. This means that after the optical signal by optical fiber transmission, part of the light energy attenuation. It shows that some material in the fiber or for some reason, by blocking light signals. This is the transmission loss of the fiber. Only by reducing the loss of optical fiber, can make the optical signal.
