Telstra has announced that it will accelerate the construction of a submarine cable link between Perth and Singapore.
"The total value of the $ 200 million submarine cable project will be an important technological infrastructure that will accelerate the connection with the market while meeting the growing data needs," said Touche International Operations and Services Director.
OTC owns and operates a 30 per cent submarine cable network in Asia, acquiring the world's largest undersea cable telecommunications company and private-sector Pacnet Corporation as early as $ 760 million last year. OTS sees the communications infrastructure as a head of its Asian expansion.
He also said the Australian telecommunications company urgently needed a new cable connecting Perth to Singapore to connect the network to Southeast Asia and Europe via Perth.
Industry watchers said the company's financial influence and competitiveness, enough to promote this submarine cable project into the world's leading position.
