On June 6, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G commercial licenses to China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Radio and Television.
Until June 6 this year, the 5G license was issued for three years.
In the past three years, China has adhered in the development of 5G to the principles of overall planning and moderate advancement, and promoted co-construction and sharing.
The scale of 5G base stations and the number of users accessing the Internet accounted for more than 60% and 70% of the world, respectively. The industry has grown steadily, and 5G applications are being integrated into thousands of industries.
A Global Dynamo of China’s 5G
According to media reports, in the past three years, China’s telecom operators,China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom have invested 86.5 billion yuan, 317.1 billion yuan, and 73.6 billion yuan in 5G, respectively, with a total investment of 477.2 billion yuan in three years.
This has injected huge impetus to communication equipment manufacturing industry.
After 3 years of development, China's 5G has led the world. Whether it is the scale of the 5G network or the number of 5G users, whether it is the richness of services or the number of vertical applications implemented, whether it is the SA independent network or the world's number one 5G patent, China has always been leading the development of 5G in the world.
According to statistics, so far, China has deployed more than 1.6 million 5G base stations, accounting for more than half of the world, with strong infrastructure.
The number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections exceeds 520 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world's total.
China's 5G mobile phone users have reached 413 million, all leading the world.
Power Cables and Various Kinds of Industries
At present, 5G has become a hot spot that various industries are pursuing, and it has also become an motivating factor for the development of the optoelectronic cable industry. The 5G network is advancing towards network diversification, broadbandization, integration and intelligence.
With the popularization of various smart terminals, mobile data traffic will show explosive growth.
In the future, optoelectronic cable products that can play an important role in the construction of the 5G tide will win a broader market development space.
Since the second half of 2021, especially since October 2021, China Mobile and China Telecom's centralized procurement bidding for ordinary optical cable products has shown a trend of increasing both volume and price.
Among them, China Mobile's procurement scale has increased by about 20% compared with 2020, and the price of optical cable has increased.
Compared with 2020, it has increased by more than 50%, the industry ecology tends to be restored, and the relationship between supply and demand continues to improve.
At the same time, according to a report released by CRU in January 2022, after experiencing downward pressure since the second half of 2018, the total global demand for optical fiber and cable will once again exceed 500 million core kilometers in 2021, and demand in major global regions has resumed growth.
In addition, under the background of the epidemic and the governments of various countries re-emphasizing the communication network infrastructure. Large-scale capital expenditure plans are frequent, and the global optical fiber deployment is expected to continue to accelerate.
The optical communication industry has bottomed out from the trough period and is expected to start a new round of economic cycle.
With the construction of 5G networks and the upgrade of gigabit fibers, fiber optic cables are expected to usher in a new round of demand.
